Marine Electrical Business For Sale
Opua, Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Sales, service, design, installation and consultation
More than 400 international yachts and boats visit Opua in the Bay of Islands each year.
Many others, perhaps as many as 2500 that belong to New Zealanders, are moored in the Bay of Islands year-round in readiness for summer cruising.
All of these boats need regular servicing, in particular batteries, electrical systems, navigation and communication systems.

Bay Marine Electric at the Opua Marina is the only specialised sales and repair business for boat electrical systems in Opua. The business was established over 20 years ago and has a strong clientele of commercial big game fishing charter boats and local private owned pleasure boats. It is ideally placed to service international yachts making their first port-of-call into New Zealand.
Bay Marine Electric has come on to the market because the owner has reached retirement age. This is a very profitable and growing business that would be ideal for an electrical engineer who wants an established lifestyle business that revolves around the sea. The business would also suit a new owner who wishes to employ a electrical engineer.
Bay Marine Electric offers year-round work, flexible working hours and great fishing is just around the corner. An interest in assisting international yachting visitors would be an advantage.

Opua is the principal port in the Bay of Islands
Opua is known as the gateway to the Bay of Islands. Located 60 km north of Whangarei at the junction of the Veronica Channel, Waikare Inlet and the Kawakawa River, Opua's basin and wharf afford the last deep-water anchorage in the inner Bay of Islands. Opua is busy clearing port for overseas yachts visiting New Zealand. Charter sailboats that cruise through the Bay of Islands are also based there. Many local cruisers stay in this sailing haven for the season because of its proximity to great sailing, diving, fishing, game fishing and other sporting and recreational activities.
The community of Opua is small and centred around its port, wharf and marina. There is a small convenience store with takeaway and bakery, Port operations office and a Post Office.
The tourist resort town of Paihia is only a few minutes drive away with water cruises, scenic tours, scenic flights and skydiving. Also nearby is the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds. A car ferry takes vehicles from Opua to Okiato and the road to historic Russell. To find out more about Opua and the Bay of Islands, click on:
