Coin-Operated Vending Business For Sale
Auckland, New Zealand

Loose change adds up to large profits
Coin-operated vending machines sell just about everything. First invented in England in 1888, vending machines (or "automatic retailing") have become commonplace in businesses, public places, shopping malls, sports venues, transportation centres and lots more.
U-Turn Vending in Auckland specialises in selling candy and nuts from coin-operated machines located in Newmarket, Parnell and Greenlane. The business has come on to the market because the owner has a number of other business interests and does not have the time to develop this particular business to its potential.

Vending machines start making money from the moment they are placed in a store. A few dollars in each machine per day adds-up significantly over a month and the vending machines will still be collecting money even when you are on holiday. Detailed income figures for U-Turn Vending are available for genuine inquiries.
U-Turn Vending would ideally suit an active retired person or a home-based parent who wants to work 5-10 hours per week. The new owner will need to be of average fitness, be able to get out and about during the day, and have a vehicle.
This is a "walk-in walk-out" business that can be easily operated from a home office. If you enjoy meeting and talking with people and want an interesting part-time business that generates cash automatically, consider what U-Turn Vending has to offer.
Vending machine part-time cash business
The U-Turn Vending business comprises sixty U-Turn, 4-selection, Bulk Candy Vendor coin-operated vending machines. Each machine has four separate chambers allowing for four different types of sweets or nuts to be dispensed. Typical products that can be sold from these machines include:
- Mars Original Fruit Skittles, M&M's chocolate products
- Jelly Beans, Fresh Mints, Chocolate Liquorice Bullets, Gumballs
- Nuts - almonds, cashews, peanuts
Each vending machine occupies approximately 0.14 square metres of space (the base is 450 mm square) and the coin mechanisms are fixed to deliver either $1 or 20 cent products. Because the coin mechanism does not require electricity, the machine can be located almost anywhere.

Forty of the sixty machines are currently on sites around the Auckland suburbs of Parnell, Newmarket, and Greenlane. The machines are sited in a wide variety of locations such as banks, commercial offices, hotel lobbies, car sales rooms, cafes, pizza outlets, motels, language schools, beauty parlours, retail shops, and mechanics garages. The other 20 machines still need to be sited.
This is a very portable business and it could be re-located by the new owner to anywhere in New Zealand.
Business concept
Site location and machine servicing are the two keys to success in this business. It is important to develop good relationships with the people at the sites (your customers) and to ensure that the right products are placed in their machines and that the machines are regularly topped up.
Full training will be given by the present owner including methods of site location, monitoring the performance of those sites, relocating machines to better sites when necessary, and servicing the machines. Full details will also be provided about product supply (purchasing contracts and suppliers are already established for many of the products) and about current site locations.

The company that supplies the vending machines will provide on-going support in regard to the machines and assistance with site-finding, if required (they will charge for some of this support but it is very professional). The machines originally cost $1500 each. More machines can be purchased from the supplying company at any stage to build the business further.
There is a Group of independent vendors who meet every couple of months for a business/social gathering in Auckland. The Group provides lots of support and information for each other.
Charity Option
The business is currently linked to a well-known New Zealand charity. This connection is in the form of a small monthly licensing fee that enables the owner to use the charity’s name on the machines. This makes siting the machines much easier and provides for increased goodwill and patronage.
