Charles Gould established Arundel Lumber in 1951 to mill locally grown Pinus radiata. The sawmill is now run by Charles’s two sons, John and Edward and it has become a local Geraldine landmark employing 13 staff. The business is a Woodmark Licensee. Woodmark ( http://www.nztpc.co.nz/woodmarkLicensees.php) is New Zealand’s only independent national quality assurance brand for timber treatment. The business is also licensed to use the Verified Timber trademark. John and Edward now wish to retire from business life and they have put their sawmilling business on to the market. Arundel Lumber is an automated sawmill with well-maintained equipment and a diversified product mix. At present, the sawmill produces around 30 cubic metres of sawn timber per day, but production could be increased 50% by adding another shift. While a background in sawmilling would be an advantage, Arundel Lumber would ideally suit a new owner with management skills and a strong interest in local sales and marketing.
