The Sound Lounge is situated right in the middle of the main street of Kerikeri .. on the sunny side ! It is a prime spot and in the past I have been offered a considerable amount for the lease alone .The shape of the shop is a little odd in that it goes around a corner (see bottom photo ) but the store layout has managed to maximise the available space . We have great window display and street frontage.

Retailing music CD's , DVD' s , some vinyl (LP's ) , and tapes .. also sheetmusic , music accessories , and a range of instruments ( guitars, keyboards, brass , instrument accessories , etc ).We also provide services of instrument repair , an instrument hire service , and piano moving and valuations. We buy and sell 2nd hand CD's , and DVD's and instruments as well as new items. We have instore listening posts ( see photos ) , a loyalty programme ( the Lounge Lizard club) , a industry specific Point of Sale programme which gives a wide range of reports for economic analysis , and a database of over 400 000 CD titles.

We have specialized in personal customer service , and sourcing collectable or hard to find items . As a result we have a loyal customer base from all over NZ , and have developed relationships with suppliers in USA , Germany , and UK and regularly import stock for our store and our customers .

Guitars , amps ,drumkit , bongos , and keyboard ...some of our instrument range .The whiteboard is used to inform the public of what's new or what's going on in the store .. or in the town ...

We have a very strong Music School here in Kerikeri and have a good working relationship with them . The school refers students to us for instrument purchases.

Sheetmusic bin on right ..the brown bins under the dark blue CD bins contain vinyl. Mostly jazz. Collectors and DJ's regularly come up from auckland to view our collection.

Staff 1 fulltime manager ( approx. 32 hours wk) , 2 part-time staff ( approx 14 hrs )

Hours of Operation

Open nine to five weekdays . Nine to two on Saturday. Sunday closed except for December - January ... open 10 - 2 .

About Kerikeri

Kerikeri is a vibrant and beautiful place to be . Alot of people are discovering this for themselves and the population (currently 8000 ) is predicted to grow to 26 000 over the next 20 years.
