Among the choices are seafood, beef fillet, chicken breast, confit of duck, Moroccan spiced lamb, Akaroa salmon, scallops, groper and lots more scrumptious choices. For those with a sweet tooth, desserts include pannacotta and chocolate trio.

Bar trade
A great selection of beers, spirits and liqueurs for both the day and evening trade. The restaurant cellar holds a great selection of local and imported wines.

Harbour 71 seats 52 diners inside and a further 30 diners outside. It is renowned for its great food and service, which is professional but relaxed.

Leasehold premises

Harbour 71 Restaurant & Bar trades from a 2-storey historic building at 71 Beach Road in Akaroa. The building is constructed of wooden framing, painted weatherboard cladding and an iron roof. A new floor of recycled rimu floorboards has been recently installed.

The interior was fully refitted and repainted in August 2005. The subdued lighting, window drapes and leather chairs ooze charm and comfort, much like a family-run provincial French restaurant.

The downstairs area opens through bi-fold doors to a paved area under a verandah. There are tables and chairs on the pavement for casual dining. Upstairs is a room for storage or for an office and the premises provides men's, ladies, and staff toilets. The ladies toilets are especially ornate with chandelier, silk curtain and wall hangings. There is ample customer parking plus two staff car parks.

The lease has been renewed to September 2011 with a further 4-year right of renewal to 2015.

Business Hours:
Monday to Friday - 3.00 pm until late.
Saturday and Sunday - 11.00 am until late.

Staff:
The business is operated by the two owners with assistance from 8 part time and full time staff. If required, the present owners are prepared to assist the new owner, terms by arrangement.

Stock:
Stock will comprise mainly alcohol supplies and will total about $15,000.
