Cabins Standard Cabins (7) have beds only, with occupants sharing all the camp facilities and supplying their own cooking utensils and bedding. Tourist Cabins have kitchen facilities, but occupants use the communal showers and toilets and supply their own blankets and linen. There is also one Tourist Cabin with its own shower. Motels Both motel units comprise two separate bedrooms with full kitchen facilities plus shower and toilet. Occupants supply their own linen, blankets and cooking utensils. Haast is really an area, comprising several small settlements. There is Haast Junction at the intersection of State Highway 6 and Haast-Jackson Bay Road where the World Heritage Visitor Centre, a petrol station and Hotel is located. Just 3 km along SH 6 is Haast township with services including a supermarket, café, tavern and accommodation options. Haast Beach, just 4 km along Haast-Jackson Bay Road, has grocery store, petrol station, postal agency and motel. Overall, Haast has a permanent population of approximately 300 people as well as a number of holiday homes.
Okuru is a small settlement 13 km from Haast Junction along the road to Jackson Bay and 2 km from the Holiday Park. Hannahs Clearing, further to the south has a fire station and a primary school. The road to Jackson Bay is often rated as one of the West Coast's 'best kept secrets' by visitors. The Haast Region is a bird watcher’s paradise, with host of species located in local lowland forests. Other wildlife in the area includes fur seals, blue penguins and the Fiordland crested penguin.
