If you are looking to purchase a business in a beautiful and unspoilt part of New Zealand, this lifestyle package could be for you.

The local convenience store in Collingwood, Golden Bay (currently run as Trott’s Foodcentre) is for sale for the first time in 9 years. Situated in the centre of the township, the store caters for the diverse needs of the Collingwood community and visitors alike and has potential for expansion.

This attractively laid out and well stocked business sells:

  • comprehensive range of grocery items, fresh meat and vegetables
  • in-store bakery (healthy lunches to the local area school)
  • hardware, camping supplies, fishing tackle and bait
  • newspapers, magazines, stamps and stationery
  • wine and beer

Largest convenience store in the top of the South Island

Collingwood is a small residential township at the mouth of the Aorere River in western Golden Bay. There is a growing residential population within the township due to a recent subdivision and there is a wide rural hinterland. Golden Bay is also a popular holiday destination and the population increases significantly over the summer months.

A large 3-bedroom apartment situated above the shop is included in the sale of the business. There are spectacular views over the local beach and estuary. If the new owners chose not to live on-site, the apartment would provide rental income in the holiday season.

This really is a great opportunity to purchase a going concern business on a "walk-in walk-out" basis in what is arguably one of the most beautiful locations in the Nelson/Tasman area of New Zealand.

Collingwood and Golden Bay

Collingwood is a small seaside township bordered by the waters of Golden Bay, the Kahurangi National Park, the Farewell Spit Nature Reserve and the lush green of the surrounding farms. From Trott's Foodcentre it is 2 km to the Primary School, 2 km to the Secondary School, 3 km to the Park and Sporting Facilities and 27 km to Takaka Township.

Gold was discovered near Collingwood, triggering a gold rush in 1857. During the gold boom the suggestion was made that the town should become the nation’s capital, but the good years soon ended and the miners drifted away.

Local facilities in the township include comprehensive schooling, tavern, general store, cafés, motels, motor camp and other rural servicing and tourism industries. Collingwood is the departure point for tours to the magical wonderland of Farewell Spit. This sand spit reaches some 35 km across the top of Golden Bay and is world famous for the migratory birds such as Godwits and Curlews, which gather there each summer.

Collingwood offers something for everyone including fishing for both fresh water and salt water species, rock climbing, caving, mountain biking on the Rameka track, kayaking on the Aorere River and around Golden Bay, and bush-walking the Heaphy Track to the West Coast.
