The Mossburn Hotel provides bistro-style restaurant meals and takeaways from its well-appointed kitchen. The Hotel is also equipped to cater for private functions with a large Function room available for hire. The Restaurant currently operates Tuesday through to Sunday 5.30pm - 9.30pm. .gif)

The Hotel offers 10 in-house rooms, compromising of 7 rooms with shared toilet and bathroom facilities and 3 double ensuite rooms. In addition there is a 2 bedroom cabin (with bathroom) behind the hotel for backpackers. There is also the possiblilty for redevelopment of the extensive grounds to provide both caravan sites and tent sites. The Hotel has an extensive clientel of contractors and truck drivers. Mossburn is world reknown for fishing and the hotel has repeat business from this each year. Mossburn is surrounded by snow-capped mountains in Winter and excellent tramping areas in Summer. Nestled under "West Dome" mountain, Mossburn is surrounded by magnificent landscapes and clean, fresh flowing rivers.
The town has a hotel, two garages, a general store, a diner, and a gift shop with garden centre and café. There is also a local primary school with an average of 75 pupils attending. Trout fishing is the main attraction, with three very good fishing rivers: the Oreti, Aparima and Hamilton Burn Rivers in very close proximity to the town. The town provides many sporting opportunities with a 9-hole golf course and the local community centre offering a full-size stadium for squash, badminton, small bore rifle shooting, and indoor bowls. Rugby, netball and hockey, along with a number of other winter sports, are also played during the season. Tennis is played in the summer. A recently built heated indoor swimming pool is located next to the primary school. |
