Freehold Holiday Park Business For Sale
Picton, New Zealand

Parklands Marina Holiday Park business Picton private sale

Parklands, the Park to stay

Picton is the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds, the boating mecca of the South Island.

Situated at the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, Picton is the South Island terminus for the Interislander ferry service to Wellington and the rest of the North Island. Picton is also the commercial hub for the Marlborough Sounds with port, several marinas, and water taxis to holiday homes and the world famous Queen Charlotte Track and coastal walkway.

Parklands Marina Holiday Park is a favourite place for travellers, New Zealand holiday makers and International tourists. The Park is situated at Waikawa in quiet and peaceful surroundings and is especially popular with boaties, campervans, caravans, and those waiting for passage on the Interislander.

Waikawa is only 3.5 km from Picton and is off the main road and away from noisy traffic. There are some magnificent bush walks just behind the camp where guests can see a range of native birds. The Holiday Park is only a 5 minute walk to the Waikawa Marina with easy boat launching facilities. Both Waikawa and Picton offer all sorts of activities including boating, fishing, wakeboarding, water-skiing, sea kayaking, scuba diving, mountain biking and walking.

Picton and the Marlborough Sounds

Picton is a great place to holiday. There are supermarkets, tourist shops, quality cafes, restaurants and bars. The township is easily explored by car, bicycle, tandem or motor scooter. Visitors can sightsee along the waterfront, play golf or mini-golf, go mountain biking, take a Farm Tour, or visit the Smith Memorial Museum with its fascinating displays of Picton's early whaling days. Near the ferry terminal is the Edwin Fox, the ninth oldest ship of its type in the world.

Blue Bridge and Interislander ferries operate daily from the ferry terminal for the transportation of passengers, vehicles and trains wanting to cross to Wellington. There is also a good selection of rental car agencies just outside the Ferry building.

Several boat trips depart from the wharf that take passengers out to the Sounds, including a dolphin watch trip and a birdwatcher special. Water taxi boats take hikers to and from the famous Queen Charlotte Track.

There are lots of day trips that can be made from Picton including wine tours, gourmet trails and craft trails. The drive to along the Queen Charlotte Drive to Havelock is spectacular. Further afield is the scenic and historic Port Underwood, shopping in Blenheim, visiting Marlborough wine country, and tramping in the Nelson Lakes National Park.
