Avalon Motel business Thames pivate sale by owner

The perfect place to explore the Coromandel

Thames is the 'Gateway to the Coromandel' and the starting point for countless thousands of tourists and holidaymakers who visit the Coromandel Peninsula each year.

Thames is only a ninety minute drive from big city Auckland. The town has a long history based on gold mining and kauri logging and many visitors come to explore the restored main street museums and the colourful past. Others come to enjoy the present with pubs, bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, boutiques, and the up-market Goldfields Shopping Mall.

Many visitors stay at Avalon Motel while visiting Thames. The Motel is located at the southern end of Thames’ famous Pollen Street and is only a 5 minute walk from the town centre. This spacious motel with its extensive parking and large mature garden is also the first motel that travellers see when entering Thames on the Pacific Coast Highway tourist route.

One Bedroom Family Unit with queen bed

Many visitors use the Motel as their base for exploring other tourist attractions on the Coromandel Peninsula that lie beyond Thames.

Avalon Motel is presented in immaculate condition by discerning owners. Thames and the Coromandel Peninsula

The Avalon Motel enjoys a unique position at the ‘gateway’ to the Coromandel Peninsula - many tourists find themselves staying there upon arriving on their visit to the peninsula, and again at the end of their Coromandel adventure. Also, Thames is the business centre of the Coromandel, being home to Thames Coromandel District Council and numerous businesses, thus ensuring year round patronage.

Local attractions near Avalon Motel include exploring the gold-mining heritage of Thames in the working museum, shopping (1 km from the town centre), golfing (10 minutes to the Thames Golf Course), bushwalks and tramping, fishing in the Firth of Thames (2 km from the beach), fitness training (300 metres from the fitness centre) or swimming (400 metres from the heated swimming pool).

Avalon Motel is the ideal place from which to explore the Coromandel Peninsula. Within 1.5 hours guests can drive to any part of the Peninsula. Leisurely day-trips can be made to the Kauaeranga Gorge, Rapauga Gardens, Waiau Waterworks, Driving Creek Railway and Pottery, Coromandel Town, Whitianga, Cathedral Cove, Hahei, Hot Water Beach or many other natural and historic places.

The Coast Road from Thames to Coromandel is very scenic, especially in December and January with the pohutukawa in flower. There are also numerous large kauri trees and many bush walks to suit all levels of fitness.
