Motueka, Nelson, New Zealand

Kaiteriteri Boat Charters business Nelson private sale

Freedom to enjoy

The Abel Tasman National Park near the northwest tip of the South Island is one of New Zealand’s most beautiful natural areas.

The National Park is famous for its pristine bays and inlets, golden sandy beaches and sculptured granite cliffs. The best way for travellers to experience the picture-perfect scenery is by boat, especially if they are short on time.

Kaiteriteri Boat Charters have been taking clients to the Abel Tasman National Park since 1996. The owners, Kathryn and Steven Hendren, specialise in the top end of the market and host exclusive tour packages for discerning travellers:

  • Abel Tasman Scenic Cruises – private scenic cruises to the Park from Kaiteriteri.
  • Transfers, Tours and Excursions - land and air tour packages to complement the marine cruises.

This established tourism business has come on to the market as a going concern complete with forward bookings for an immediate cash flow. While the preferred sale option includes all of the business - Cruises, Tours, Transfers and all Concessions – the owners are prepared to sell parts (plant, concessions, tours) to interested parties.

Scenic cruises to Abel Tasman National Park for discerning travellers

Abel Tasman National Park with its calm seas and wilderness quiet is perfect for exploring by boat. And it can be easily reached from nearby Kaiteriteri Beach with its holidaymakers, resorts, lodges and motels.

Kaiteriteri Boat Charters operate the “Northwestern”, a near-new charter vessel surveyed for up to 15 passengers. The “Northwestern” was locally built for the unique marine environment of the Abel Tasman coastline and has a fully enclosed cabin, ample canopy for shade and shelter, fore and aft seating, toilet, CD player, and all the latest navigational technology.

Disembarking for a magic Abel Tasman experience

Cruises begin at Kaiteriteri Beach and go north along the coastline to enter the National Park. On the way, Steven explains the history of the area and points out natural features. Highlights are secluded coves with breathtaking scenery, clear sparkling water, abundant marine life (sometimes dolphins and whales), sea birds of all kinds, shy blue penguins, and inquisitive New Zealand fur seals.

A picnic lunch is provided, of local produce and local wines -
with guests choosing to eat either ashore or on board.

After lunch, some guests go ashore to enjoy an unguided scenic walk through the native forest that extends right down to the high water mark. Others enjoy a refreshing swim or just wander along the shoreline to enjoy the total experience.

Complimentary Tours and Transfers

Kaiteriteri Boat Charters also offers a range of land-based and air excursions. Tours and excursions are tailored to the individual needs of clients and all packages offer a professional, discrete and relaxed service:

  • airport to accommodation transfers, and accommodation to activities transfers.
  • art and craft tours, vineyard and winery tours, and scenic tours around the Nelson Region (the Abel Tasman Water & Wine Tour is especially popular).

Guests are transported in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle that seats up to 7 passengers.

After they have explored the area by land and sea, Kaiteriteri Boat Charters can also book clients on an exhilarating return trip by helicopter over the Abel Tasman National Park.

The Abel Tasman National Park and the Nelson Region.

Abel Tasman National Park (established in 1942) is New Zealand's smallest National Park (22,530 hectares). It is renowned for its beauty with golden beaches, sculptured granite cliffs, and crystal-clear waters. The world-famous Abel Tasman Coast Track traverses the coastline from Marahau to Awaroa. This area of the South island has a mild climate and is a good place to visit at any time of the year.

The Abel Tasman coastline is truly remarkable and is a bird watchers and nature photographer’s heaven. Within the Abel Tasman National Park is the Tonga Island Marine Reserve that is home to an array of marine life, sea birds and the New Zealand fur seal.

The nearest towns are Motueka, Takaka and Kaiteriteri. Nelson and its airport are 51 km from Motueka, a short drive to collect and deliver international travellers who have booked on Kaiteriteri Boat Charters.
Nelson is the main commercial centre for Nelson Province. It is renowned for its vibrant arts community, laid back atmosphere and great weather. Nelson introduced New Zealand to the wonder of Wearable Arts, now remembered at the World of Wearable Art & Classic Cars Museum. The Saturday Outdoor Market is an essential stop for food, jewellery and crafts.

The Nelson area has over 20 boutique wineries producing world class wines. Most offer cellar door services and café dining for a relaxed day in the sun. Nelson also produces a cornucopia of other fruits and vegetable including kiwifruit, apples and hops.
