Hokitika and Westland

Hokitika is a small town with about 3,500 residents. It is a perfect place for a quiet break or a fun holiday with lots of adventures. Mount Cook can be seen from the beach and there are always glorious sunsets to admire.

Hokitika is at the centre of an area known for rainforests and wetlands and when it rains, it rains. However, the town also has about the same sunshine hours as Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch.

Over 18,000 visitors come to Hokitika in early March of each year for the Hokitika Wildfoods Festival with exotic food and great entertainment.
