Restaurant and Pizzeria Business For Sale
Paihia, Bay of Islands, New Zealand

Two top floor restaurants offering licensed dining

Paihia is less than 3 hours from Auckland and is the southern gateway to the Bay of Islands.

The Bay of Islands, with 144 islands and stunning scenery, is the best-known Maritime Park in New Zealand. Paihia is the main centre and both New Zealand and international tourists come all through the year for water sports, big game fishing, day tours to Cape Reinga, and lots of local adventures. Paihia is also a popular wedding and honeymoon destination because of its magnificent harbour views, numerous hotels and motels, and a romantic beach.

La Scala and La Scaletta Pizzeria licensed restaurants in central Paihia have been serving lunch and evening meals since 1980. The two establishments are adjacent to each other and together they are the largest restaurant complex in Paihia. Each restaurant is serviced by a common central kitchen and both enjoy a reputation for good food at affordable prices.

La Scarletta Pizzeria with indoor and outdoor seating

La Scala and La Scaletta Pizzeria have come on to the market for the first time in 14 years, and only because the owner wishes to slow down a little and retire from business life. These two well-known restaurants are being sold as a single business unit. They have an established niche in the Paihia market, employ 20 people, and have a combined turnover exceeding one million dollars.

If you have a background in the hospitality industry and can bring management and organisational skills, you should seriously consider La Scala and La Scaletta Pizzeria. The two restaurants enjoy an ideal location in a top tourist town and are being sold at a realistic asking price.

Leasehold premises

Paihia, the main commercial centre for the Bay of Islands

Paihia and the Bay of Islands are one of the most popular holiday destinations in the country with resorts, motels, cafes and bars. The Bay of Islands enjoys an endless and unspoilt coastline and a sub-tropical summer climate with mostly mild winters.

Paihia is the main base for tours out into the Bay, and north to cape Reinga. Swimming, boating, sailing, fishing, diving, and water sports are popular pastimes. Cruises to Piercy Island - known as the Hole In The Rock - and to Roberton and Urupukapuka islands are "must do" activities. The Bay of Islands is also world famous as a big game fishing mecca for sharks and marlin.

The area is rich in history, being favoured by pre-European Maori as well as by early European settlers. The Treaty of Waitangi was signed just a kilometre from Paihia. Today, many yachties arriving from the Northern hemisphere make their first contact in New Zealand at the Port of Opua.

Paihia is just across the Bay from Russell, a small, historic seaside village. Russell is steeped in colourful history - including ancient Maori history - and many of the earliest European buildings and sites in New Zealand are to be found here. The Strand waterfront and York Street shops offer galleries, cafes and restaurants.

Other local tourist attractions include the Waitangi Treaty House and Museum, Kawiti Glow Worm Caves, the charming town of Kerikeri, Rewa's Maori Village, the Hundertwasser Toilets in Kawakawa, and Puketi Kauri Forest.
