Al Centro Restaurant with solid rimu tables, exotic wooden
panelling and clever lighting exudes warmth and
charm.
Al Centro is the top licensed
restaurant in Taihape, offering great front-of-house service and a
well-proven á la carte menu. There is also a cosy lounge area by the bar for customers to
relax before, and after, their meal.

But Al Centro Restaurant is more than
just the favoured dining place for local townsfolk and farming people. From late morning, it offers a Café–style
menu with light lunches and bar services and it operates a small casino.
The business also provides in-house catering for weddings, birthdays,
social events and Smorgasboard evenings.
The owners, with help from local
tradespeople, undertook the original fit-out. All the small details
are in place like removable partitions to make one large room for
functions, stainless steel surfaces, washable kitchen walls, walk-in
freezer, walk-in cooler, gas-powered cooking and much more.
Al Centro Restaurant is a walk
in-walk out cash business with an
established clientele and a diverse income stream. It is being offered
at a most realistic price by owners who are retiring and the freehold
is also available. It would be ideal for a husband and wife
partnership who love cooking and presenting good
food. And Taihape offers a friendly and affordable life style and a safe
environment for the whole family.

small gaming room with 10 gaming machines. There
is only one other gaming room in Taihape and it offers little
competition.
The Casino generates a Site Rental based on gaming throughput and
earns other income from food and alcohol sales to gamblers. Gaming machines, computer, surveillance camera, scales
and stationery are all provided as part of the Agreement with the
Foundation. |

With its Tavern License operating until

Taihape, the town that has something
for everyone
|
|
|
|
|
|
Taihape is a country town on State
Highway 1 that services an enormous rural area, principally of sheep,
beef, and deer farms. Plantation forestry is also an important
component to the region.
The town (population between 2000 and
3000 people) offers a relaxed lifestyle where families can enjoy all
that is good about New Zealand.
Taihape has all the amenities of a
large city but with affordable, quality housing ranging from $40,000
to $150,000, good schools, and a hospital. There is lots of clubs and
sports for all the family. Pony Clubs are especially popular.

Tourism is becoming an important new industry for the whole
area. Taihape is world famous for its Gumboot Festivals and now there
is adventure bungy
jumping, fly fishing for enormous brown and rainbow trout,
heli-hunting for deer, river rafting, farm and garden visits.
The town is an important food and
petrol stop for travellers from Wellington going to and from the
skifields on Mt Ruapehu (45 minutes) and the fishing and boating at
Lake Taupo (60 minutes).
