Mitre 10 has been a household name in New Zealand since 1974. Now there are over 120 stores throughout New Zealand operating under the Mitre 10 banner.

Individual ownership is the essence of Mitre 10 as the Franchisor believes that only the people who own and run the stores can offer customers the service they expect.

The Franchisor offers computerised systems and procedures including support for accounts and invoices.

Other benefits provided by the Franchisor include group purchasing and fixed cost control, a New Zealand icon brand and image, advertising and sales promotional campaigns, proven national marketing programmes, a national support centre facility and much more.

Retail area:

• Benches, counters.
• Merchandisers, display stands, storage cupboards.
• Light fittings, floor coverings, wall decorations.
• Cash register, EFTPOS terminal.
• Electronic surveillance.

Office:
The present owners share the daily running of their business with one being the store Manager while the other operates the computer, places orders for promotions and processes all inwards goods.

• Desks, chairs and office equipment.
• Phone, fax.
• Computer, printer, computer software. The computer is linked to the Mitre 10 Franchisor who also provides a 24 hour back-up service.

Garden Shop:
The Garden Shop retails a whole range of popular house and garden plants, seeds, potting mix, and fertiliser. Decorative ceramic pots, garden ornaments, and garden furniture are especially popular. A complete range of garden supplies, irrigation fittings and fixtures are available from wall display racks in the general retail space but near the Garden Shop.

Engraving room:
Kaikohe Mitre 10 has a separate room for engraving. One staff member has been trained in the engraving business. When not engraving trophies, the engraver works in the store.

Other equipment and facilities:

• Inwards goods area.
• Staff toilet (2).
• Customer parking for 7-8 cars.

The Cafe is leased out with a lease of 3x3x3 years (payable to the owner of Kaikohe Mitre 10). The lease expires in 2016 and the next renewal date is June 2010. The Cafe comprises kitchen and food preparation, servery, customer seating and two public toilets.

Equipment, fittings and fixtures (all included in the Mitre 10 chattels list) include:

• Refrigerator, cold room.
• Oven, microwave oven.
• Dishwasher.
• Coffee machine.
• Drinks refrigerator.
• Grill.

Kaikohe, being situated in the centre of the Mid North,  is known as "The Hub of The North". The town is the service centre for a large farming area.

Kaikohe is approx 45 minutes from the West Coast and 30 minutes from the Bay of Islands on the East Coast. Kaikohe boasts over 500 business.
