Over the last 15 years Darryl Simpson of Simpson & Hastie has developed, tested and
perfected printing systems using electrostatic nylon flock and colourfast dye injection. Simpson & Hastie's business
consists of five interconnected parts:
1. Electrostatic flock coating
Electrostatic flock printing (feels like velvet) can be
applied to anything from
polypropylene mats for entrances, cars and boats, even to fine prints on
dresses.
Flocked surfaces reduce water condensation, act as good thermal
insulators and have been used in the automotive industry for years
for such items as glove compartment boxes, door moldings and window
trims.
Simpson & Hastie provide electrostatic
flock printing services for custom projects requiring product
refinishing. For example car dashboards, interior panels and
parts are samples of their work with the car industry.
2. Electrostatic flock printing on
to polypropylene mats and similar material
The flocking process involves applying short monofilament fibres,
usually nylon, cotton or rayon, directly on to a substrate that has been
previously coated with an adhesive. The process uses special equipment
that electrostatically
charges the flock particles causing them to
stand-up. The fibres are then propelled and anchored into the adhesive
at right angles to the substrate. The application is both durable and
permanent. Simpson &
Hastie produce electrostatic flock prints in many colours.

3. Flood dying - wool or nylon on
carpets, mats, rugs and like materials
Car mats are Simpson
& Hastie's
specialty. Mats for
over 200
makes and models are available. Flood dye printing is ideal for wool
or nylon monogrammed mats and can be applied to a surface up to 1m x
2m (the maximum size for a heat-set oven).

4. Demin and cotton printing
The Simpson
& Hastie printing system can be used for applying patterns,
tattoos and logos to new or used jackets,
jeans, dresses etc. Denim and cotton printing is ideally suited to clubs
and organisations who need their logo printed on to clothing.

5. Terracotta look-a-like pots
Simpson & Hastie specialise in big pots for big trees. They
sell pots from 500 x 600 mm to big pots that measure 1 metre x 1 metre (300 litres).
The business sale includes 3 pot moulds and the recipe for
producing the pots. Simpson & Hastie also produce
nylon flocked pots that feature advertising logos. Pots can be
supplied to customers with large Queen Palms or Yuccas.
